Social value summarises the varied social, psychological and community benefits that a service like education offers people who engage with it. To promote the ‘social value’ that Further Education (FE) and Skills providers achieve for their learners and for wider society, the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) is collaborating with the sector on a piece of research to showcase and promote the ‘social value’ that skills providers achieve for their learners and for wider society. As a new government takes office, ministers and policymakers will be seeking reassurance that public money is being used to rebuild lives, aspirations, opportunities and communities. ETF wants to support the sector by promoting the life-changing work of educators and leaders who work in FE and Skills providers. We have invited the whole sector to contribute to a by 31 July 2024, sharing examples, stories, case studies and lived experience of their work.
Through this research, we will endeavour to capture the richness, depth and diversity of the benefits that providers deliver for learners, local communities and wider society. This rich content will help us, as a sector, to develop recommendations for policy makers to integrate concepts and practice relating to social value in the FE and Skills sector into their policy making. By completing the survey, you will helping to build a sustainable future for our sector so that it can continue to transform the lives of those who work and learn within it.
